From bottle to tire

Tire sealant instructions

Let the air out. Add your Dilloz. Pump it back up. Here is how to install it, and what to do if a puncture needs a little help.

Getting started

Five simple steps

You will need your sealant, a valve-core tool, a pump and a pressure gauge. Wear eye protection. These five steps are for a Schrader valve, the wider type used on car tires.

  1. Let all the air out

Turn the valve to the top of the tire and release all the air. Keep the wheel still while it is flat.

  2. Remove the valve core

Use the valve-core tool to unscrew the small core inside the valve stem. Set it aside for reinstallation.

  3. Open the tip

If the nozzle is still sealed, trim about 1/16 inch off the tip with a clean, straight cut.

  4. Squeeze in your Dilloz

Insert the nozzle into the open valve stem. If you use the install tube, push it securely onto the valve stem. Squeeze slowly, then release so the bottle can breathe before the next squeeze. The sealant should flow without excessive pressure. Continue until you have added the estimated amount for your tire.

  5. Put the core back and pump up

Reinstall the valve core and inflate to your normal riding pressure. Keep the valve at the top when connecting the pump or letting air out, so sealant stays out of the valve. Check that the tire holds pressure before riding.

Fitting a new tire?

Clean the rim, lightly coat the bead areas on the tire and rim with Bead Buddy, then mount the tire and seat the bead within the maker's pressure limits. Add your sealant afterward using the steps above.

Have a Presta valve?

Tubeless tire: add your sealant through the open bead before seating it. Do not try to squeeze the fiber and rubber through the narrow Presta valve.

Inner tube with a Presta valve: the valve is too restricted for the product to pass through. We do not recommend this installation.

Sealant will not go through the nozzle?

Check the bottle tip. Start by trimming about 1/16 inch off a sealed tip with a clean, straight cut. If the opening is too small or uneven, trim a little more so the sealant can flow easily.

Squeeze slowly, then let go. Give the bottle a moment to draw air back in before the next squeeze. The sealant should flow easily without a lot of force.

If you use the install tube, push it securely onto the valve stem before squeezing.

Got a puncture?

Get it sealed. Get back out there.

Tubeless or inner tube, the steps are the same. Turn the puncture toward the ground, then follow the instructions for what comes out: sealant or just air.

Extra pressure can help a stubborn puncture seal. Pressure tire up to maximum PSI listed on tire (Do NOT exceed manufacturer's max tire pressure rating.) Return to normal riding pressure before riding.

Sealant is coming out of the puncture

  1. Clear the puncture. Deflate the tire, then remove any lodged objects and loose debris. If small debris is still stuck in the hole, use a small paper clip, screw or nail to push it fully inside the tire.
  2. Add air. Pressure tire up to maximum PSI listed on tire (Do NOT exceed manufacturer's max tire pressure rating.)
  3. Help the sealant to work. Rotate the tire three times, then leave the puncture pointing down for five minutes.
  4. Check before you ride. Return to your normal riding pressure and make sure the leak has stopped and the tire holds air.

Air is coming out, but no sealant

  1. Clear the puncture. Deflate the tire, then remove any lodged objects and loose debris. If small debris is still stuck in the hole, use a small paper clip, screw or nail to push it fully inside the tire.
  2. Add sealant, then air. Add a small amount of Armor-Dilloz using the installation method for your valve. Have a Presta valve? Pressure tire up to maximum PSI listed on tire (Do NOT exceed manufacturer's max tire pressure rating.)
  3. Help the sealant to work. Rotate the tire three times, then leave the puncture pointing down for five minutes.
  4. Check before you ride. Return to your normal riding pressure and make sure the leak has stopped and the tire holds air.

No Dilloz on hand? A suitable fluid tire sealant or even water can top up the sealant already in the tire.

Still losing air? Check the valve for leaks. If the tire will not hold pressure, have the tire or tube repaired or replaced before riding. A torn sidewall, damaged bead or split tube seam needs repair or replacement.

Wear eye protection, do not ingest sealant, and wash your hands after use. Follow any tire or wheel maker restrictions on sealant.
